Two more H Sarah Trading containers installed in partnership with the Carcavelos Parish Community Center

Tags :

Partners for over three years, the Carcavelos Parish Community Center has two more H Sarah Trading containers installed to help those who need it most. This Private Social Solidarity Institution launched projects and services for children, young people, the elderly, homeless people and needy families. In view of the growth in social responses, the number of professionals, collaborators and volunteers has also grown. Currently, the Community Center of the Parish of Carcavelos has a wide range of services, always trying to be an institution of excellence in its field of activity.
The RE-COOPERA Project is part of the institution’s fundraising strategy and allows the reuse of everything the community no longer needs: clothes, toys, books, furniture, equipment, utensils, etc. Following this initiative, two new H Sarah Trading containers were placed in front of Riviera Center and Galerias do Junqueiro.

This year, Green Flags Day – Eco-Schools Award, took place at the Guimarães Multipurpose Pavilion and H Sarah Trading could not miss. This event aims to recognize the work of all those who contributed to make the daily life of the school and the community where it operates. Resulting from the partnership with the Eco-Schools Program, H Sarah Trading represented the activity “Used Clothes, Not Finished”, which aims to (in) train the younger layers about the importance of textile waste management, promoting its reuse and correct referral for recycling. The Award began at 9am with Eco-Mostra, where dozens of partners were present who provided participants with the most varied activities throughout the morning. After awarding the challenge prizes for the 2018/19 school year and delivering the flag, the band “The Olives” took the stage and gave a closing concert that cheered everyone in attendance. And as we work to live in an increasingly sustainable world, this year H Sarah Trading has reused newspapers and burlap bags to wrap the prizes of the winning schools.

Chatting with Margarida Beja from H Sarah Trading

Tags :

Partners for about 4 years, Dress for Success Lisboa shared H Sarah Trading’s work in one of its “À Conversa Com …” lines. H Sarah Trading Project Manager Margarida Beja explained the processes by which the materials collected by the company follow and how its expansion has contributed to the development of local communities. In this section, we also addressed the importance of the real benefits that textile reuse has had in Portugal, which unites H Sarah Trading with Dress for Success Lisbon and advice was left to those who want to have a greener and more sustainable way of life. The initiative under this heading is due to the fact that the fashion industry is the second most polluting in the world these days. The key points for reducing the negative impact of the sector? Textile recycling and circular economy. Let’s get to know Dress for Success a little. It originated in the United States of America and was founded by Nancy Lublin, whose father, before interviewing secretaries for his law firm, always said that it was enough to look at them through the window of his building to see how they were dressed if they would be. the contracted or not. What at first sounded like prejudice later made her realize that hiring a woman often depends on how she dresses. Dress for Success is born with the mission of supporting women to thrive in their professional and personal lives so that they do not live in situations of poverty and where they are treated with respect and dignity. The partnership with H Sarah Trading comes to give a second life to the used clothing, as Dress for Success is part of a global change movement aimed at empowering women for a better and safer future.
