Municipality of Vouzela collects 7,264 kg of textile waste in the first half of 2018

Under the cooperation agreement between Vouzela and H Sarah Trading, 7,264 kg of textile waste were collected in the first half of 2018. According to data released by the company responsible, of the total collected, 5,784 kg went to reuse, 549 kg for textile recycling, 91 kg for recycling of other materials and 840 kg for destruction. This collection allowed to divert the more than 7.2 tons of textile waste from the landfill, so that the correct routing of the textiles resulted in an estimated saving for the City Hall of more than 600 euros. In addition to these gains, it is estimated that this referral has reduced CO2 emissions by 20.8 tons. The partnership between these entities was established in 2014, with the aim of reducing the amount of waste destined for landfills and promoting the reuse of textile materials in industrial activity.

The Municipality of Vouzela thanks all those who use this service, adopting environmentally responsible behavior.

UNIR receives donation from H Sarah Trading at Loulé City Hall

The UNIR – Association of Mental Illnesses Families and Friends of the Algarve, based in Loulé, received from H Sarah Trading a donation that results from the protocol established between the Municipality of Loulé and the company, which has placed in several places of the county several containers for collection clothing, footwear and used toys. At the ceremony that took place at the Hall of the Municipal Council in Loulé, the president of the municipality, Vítor Aleixo, highlighted how important the amount delivered is the amount of 7,500 euros to UNIR, a very noble institution. He also concluded that this action is doubly beneficial, both socially and from an environmental point of view. Cláudia Costa, a representative of H Sarah Trading, began by saying that she hopes in the future that the company can deliver a greater amount of money to this or another institution that the Chamber indicates. It also revealed that there is a growing awareness among the population of textile recycling, as well as recycling for future generations. Surprised was the direction of UNIR, which in the voice of treasurer Maria Leonor Lisbon, said that this amount will contribute to the acquisition of a transport vehicle with 9 places that the institution needs a lot. He also revealed that most of the money will be donated by the Municipality of Loulé, which has greatly helped the institution.
